ok I know what that means ... i need to know how to access the bulbs on the license plate lights.. on a 1996 E36 328is. I dont want to skrew anything up so your info is appreciated...

I had that problem, it wasnt the bulbs burnt out though, it was a wire in the trunk that had become frayed over time and split apart. The wire was with a whole bunch of other wires located on the trunk hinge and the friction from opening/closing the trunk over time caused them to wear down.
