A 635csi is actually about as heavy as an e46M3. As far as maintaing the car the engine is bulletproof and very reasonable to maintain price wise. With the right suspension and tires the car is very competent on the track. Is the 78 635 that was mentioned a grey market car or a euro because that early date usually was a 630csi.

Nice..
My uncle has a Dinan modified M6 (AKA M635csi). It's got the intake, chip and exhaust. Not exactly Dinan badge worthy but still got some nice Dinan tweaks nonetheless.
He's been having problems with the chip though, and even after bringing it back to Dinan (He lives in the US), they couldn't figure out why he's been having problems (jerky top end acceleration).
Anyways, M6 is a great automobile. The interior is huge but the car handles like a brick on wheels.

If you like the M6 which is pretty expensive to buy and maintain you can actually get pretty close to the performance with a nice 88 or 89 635. These came from the factory with about 208hp and 225 torque. With a few fairly inexpensive mods you can get close to the M6 performance. These would include chip, exhaust, intake some mild head work and be not far off the 256hp that the M6 had in North America. Always the most important thing about buying a 6 is the body. If the body is good the rest is not to bad to buy. Body parts for a 6 are priced like parts for a Ferrari.

I was being facetious just to let you know that body parts for a 6 can be very expensive.
