Smile Grade school automotive question

For the old e36 non-vanos owners: Have you guys cleaned your headlight lens cover? Mine has gunk in there and needs way overdue cleaning. Is this an easy task? Care to post the instruction? TIA

i havent done it yet,,but this weekend im setting up to do it..this is what i hear you do...
.......use 1000grit sandpaper,,sand down past pits..
then use an even lighter sandpaper to smooth it out,,, use a metal polish or something similar to smooth it out and clean it up,,sounds easy enough but once again i havent done it, so im not a search on google..
