Differences Between 87-88 Motor??

OK I have a 87 325e (which means it has a 2.7 ETA motor correct??)
As I understand the ETA motors are a low RPM tourqie engine
Where as the motor in a "i" are a higher RPM motor (better performence ?)........Correct?? What else am I missing here??

Although I'm still researching it all about the "i" head conversion it sound s like this is a way to mix the 2 motors to make a better performence engine.....

Another thing is "Whats the difference between the 87 & 88 "e" engines???

Thats a really good site. Thanks.

Here is a question though....I have an 88' 325 "Super ETA" which already has the "I" head. So would it be safe to say that for me to convert my engine to the 325i all I would have to do is to change the cam the valve springs and I guess the ECU. and I would have a 325i with 2.7L displacement? More Horsepower and more torque?
