relatively new M3 clutch

Looking for just the clutch, I've got the flywheel and pressure plate.

It's for a 1995 3.0L M3.

Thanks,

Bry

Where did you get the flywheel from? Charlie? And how much was it?

Hey Serge,

Got it from Nick P here on Max. $150 for a used clutch, flywheel and pressure plate. The clutch is quite worn so I need a new one.

Does this thing just bolt on the 318 or do I need to modify something?

I'm going to clean it up a bit

Thanks,

Bry

It's pretty much a direct bolt-on. You would need new bolts of course. You might also need a new clutch fork as well.(I can't remember for sure. Charlie should know.) I'll probably be swapping mine sometime during the winter/spring too.

what is the advantage of using M3 flywheel/clutch on a 318 compared to aftermarket?

Jon,

It has a larger surface area and can handle more power. It's also much grippier since I find non M3 clutches tend to slip. Since I have to replace the clutch anyways, might as well upgrade. There is no downside because the M3 flywheel is about the same weight as the stock 318 one.

Kevin,

I think I'm going to get someone else to install this for me. I would love to screw around with it and see if I can do it myself, but don't have as much time now that school started. Thanks for the offer anyways

Serge,

Thanks for the info. I'll probably get charlie to install it for me if he's willing

I see that the Sachs M3 Sports clutch plate is around $500US! Any idea how much a stock SACHS M3 clutch plate is? Sport is more expensive correct? I see the 318 clutch plate is only $90US! What a difference.

95 M3 Clutch kit is only 240US, pressure plate is 150 from
bimmerparts.com. There is absolutely no point of getting a sports M3 clutch for your car. It will be just a waste of money.
