Need help on buying a Digital Camera

I have seen alot of amazing pics posted on this site. I was just
wondering if anyone can give me their opinion on what brand or
type of digital camera I shoud buy.

I was thinking of the Sony DSC-F717 or the Canon G5.

Any other suggestions would be appriciated!!!

Thanks...

How much $ are you going to spend? The G5 and the F717 are both great cameras, but they are costly and may have a lot of features you don't need.

What level photographer are you? Are you planning to get into photography?

yup, go to dpreview and learn about the cameras

I have the Canon G3, if you're choosing between the Sony's and G5...

I'd recommend the G3, the difference between the G3 and G5, which is very limited performance-wise. and it's way cheaper. And you won't get bored of it... you keep learning a little bit more everytime u use it. I've been using it for more than a year and I never touched my Sony's anymore.

I don't really have a budget and I am new to photography.

I guess I will check out some reviews on Canon cameras, but
for some reason I really like the Sony. I guess it's the quality of
all Sony products.

Also, the Canon S400 looks like a good camera too.

Thanks a lot for your comments guys, I really appriciate it.
