Raced a 2002 VW Jetta VR6.......

It was my buddies girlfriends car (auto........lol). They have been bugging me to line up against this thing for EVER, so finally we're out all together on saturday night at about 2:30am, open road, we both get up to 80kms, and then she hammers it and I drop it into second, I just start pulling and pulling, no lookin back. We went from 80kms to just under 210, and by the end I was really far ahead..........I was impressed..........those vr6's are no slouch! Anyways thought I would post!

auto's are pretty slow, especially when rolling cause they dont downshift

they do downshift, just push the gaspedal down till you feel you hit something and then step on it some more, that`s the kickdown, when you use kickdown it downshifts realy nice when you use it
most modern automatics have it, the vr6 probably too

Nice run!

Yeah auto's make a difference esp. if the one driving manual is a very quick shifter.

The new Jetta GLI's sound pretty sweet. Very very smooth sounding when I heard one driving by at the Club Vaper BBQ meet yesterday.

Ya she knows the auto trick (actually she's a pretty good driver). But yes I don't consider myself to be a pro driver, but I certainly am above most daily drivers.........heel toe shifting, matching revs etc. etc. but still it was all in good fun and after we all shared in some nice beers! Good times had by all!
