Anyone know anythin about home theatres?
Hey guys, I have a Sony recieve thingy, it's pretty nice, I think it costs like 4 grand or so.
The thing is that it gets hot after I watch a movie or play music or leave it on. I watched a movie yesterday night and I accidently left it on for the night and I just touched it now and it's VERY HOT.
Is this normal?? How can I fix it ?

4,000 for a SONY reciver? I don;t think so.
High-End recievers usually have FANS on the back. Do you have them? Are they working?
It should get hot if you are listening to a music really loud, i do not think it should overheat while it is just on.

these things to tend to get hot, just make sure your not blocking any vent holes, and not putting anything on top is normally a good precaution, other then that yeah they do get hot, and like sickfinga said check to see if any fans have stopped working.

I'm sorry this is another one, my house got broken into and the insuarence money wasn't much so the stuff that was stolen got shittified....
I just checked the model for you and it's the Sony STR-DB840. It costs just under a grand.
Any yeah, I did listen to music loudly yesterday for an hour or so, but then I just left it idling (didn't turn it off) and it's still hot today, I thought it would cool down or something???
Thanks...

HOLY ****, IT JUST SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME.
I was listening to a cd on 4/10 volume (very loud if ur in the room).
Then I hit stop on the cd player.
Then I turned off the reciever. (which was still hot, like I can't keep my hand on it for more than 5 seconds).
Then when I turned off the amp my sub just ****ing started going SOOO STRONG. I got scared and I turned off the amplifier too, and it was still on so I turned the reciever back on and it stopped a couple secs later. But the sub is ****ing strong, like you know when there's a beat and every time it makes that strong noise and then stops right, cause of the beat, well it made that noise but it stayed on I thought it was gonna ****ing explode someone help me this is the first time it happened.
Maybe I shouldn't have turned it off right after listening to it ???

Well I sorta just fixed it, like I put the subwoofer setting from +10 dB to 0, and then I waited 10 mins and then I turned it off.
But WTF happened???
