Fuel Pump or Fuel Pump main relay????

Hey Guys !

Last week my E30 Stopped running while I was driving, fuel stopped going to the engine and it just died on the road.

I recently changed the Fuel Filter so I know its not that,

Ive narrowed it down to Fuel Pump and Fuel pump main relay. I took out the rear seat, held my ear to the fuel pump cover while someone started it and couldnt hear anything except the motor trying to start.

Anyone got anything? Im trying to get this fixed asap

Thanks !!

Hi

It could be the fuel regulator or fuel pump connector that has corroded or fuel relay. Did you work in that area recently?

check for voltage at the fuel pump plug and if you get 12 volts you will know that it is the fuel pump that has failed and not the relay

You have to know which model pump you have based on the year of the car. If it's a late 325 you probably have a single fuel inlet with 2 connectors. if it's earlier model pre 88 then it's a duel inlet pump. if it's a 318 its a dual inlet with a twin connector. the black connector on all is the sending unit. Some have a flat spade connector and some have the pin connector.

Hi

It should be the fuel connector there is one on ebay, or u can just find a e36 wire harness with fuel connector I think it will work for e30 fuel pump as well

I got full assembly (Pump+sending unit) for $230. To be honest I didn't shop around much and just wanted to get it running asap
