Self Levelling Suspension waring on?????

My selfl leveliing suspension light is on my 2005 X5 3.0. The suspension looks fine. It hasn't lowered and I measured the clearance on both side of the vehicle and they are the same. It came on a few days ago and once I turned the car off it went away. Went over a bump coming into my driveway and it came back on. Turned it off and went away. Was good for about a day and half and came back on and now stays on while I drive the truck. Any ideas what could be causing this. Haven't taken it to mechanic yet. Just looking for some ideas.

Self leveling suspension doesn't have anything to do with how the suspension sits when it isn't moving or when it is going straight. What self-leveling suspension is has to do with going around corners. Normally when youre going around a corner if youre taking a left turn the left springs and shocks will compress, which makes the left side shocks and springs lower than the right side. With self-leveling suspension, when you go around corners, the suspension levels out the height of all the shocks/struts which allows the car handle way better around a corner and also makes it a lot more comfortable when youre inside the car.

As for the issue, do you notice the handling being worse around corners? Or anything like that? It could just be a bad sensor that's throwing the code and everything could be working perfectly. Although, self leveling suspension is not necessary and can be gone without. It is just a nice performance feature BMW throws on their cars to make them more luxurious and comfortable and to make them more performance oriented.

Self leveling suspension.

I have an issue with the wheel bearing which needs to be replaced. Having it done this week. Do you think this could be a cause for the self leveling suspension light to come on? Thanks for the reply.

The wheel bearing could be causing the self-leveling suspension to not work. Get that fixed and I think it will fix the issue, if not let us know.
