Back to life, thread! Anyone with experience with a good chrome electroplater local? I'm trying to estimate how much extra it'll cost me to refinish a set of chrome wheels I'm considering (strip + powdercoat instead of just powdercoat), and of course I'd want it done right...

Stay the Hell away from wheel wizards. I almost cried at the description given earlier. They are trash that sell trash to trash in a trash area. I can't even believe I had thm redo two wheels for me because the price seemed too good to be true. Absolute shitty job and the clear was sprayed on before I picked thm up because it was still tacky.. Talk about a side job. My mistake and I'd be happy to provide any details and pictures if anyone needs any when I get back from lying on the beach

I spoke to wheel fix about 2weeks ago I believe one of the couple is still running it as I was able to get a refinish quote. They did a bunch of refinishing for me ages ago and fixed 4 broken rims back in 98 or 99 and did a superb job with the structural repairs. The recent quite however was a little out of my expectation range.

Bringing thread back to life AGAIN after one year.

Any changes with the places mentioned in the thread here? Any recommendations?

We use them at work for refinishing and straightening. They do great work. I don't know what there prices are like to the public but it's worth looking into.

Amazing ! ... No one has actually managed to get their wheels refinished to match the original shadow chrome. If I manage to find a good shop, I'll let you guys know.

Did you ever refinish your rims ?

I can confirm that no one out there, including Carcones, is still unable to match the original finish.

I'll vouch for that, the colour/sheen is surprisingly close. Even had the OE style black barrel and rear of face.
