Correct paint for interior trim?

Trying to match the dark grey on e30 interior (kick panels, center console, knee bolster, overhead dash)

Found the SEM "Graphite" looks pretty close but wondering if anyone has found a better match that will stick to plastic?

I haven't tried to paint those areas before; best thing would be to try and find the color code from bmw and then hit a Carquest who can probably match the code; they make custom aresol spray cans. Funny, bmw still has NOS dash boards and the texture and color is slightly darker then oem. I guess it wouldn't matter if you paint everything to match?

Thanks Ceeker, I didn't know Carquest sold custom color rattle cans. The paint needs to be formulated for plastic/vinyl with some sort of flex agent, maybe different then standard automotive paint? I haven't been able to find a color code or even a name for the panels, the pigment is mixed into the plastic. I don't want to paint everything, just a few parts that are damaged or faded. At some point I painted my kick panels and knee bolster satin black and it looks off a bit.

My best bet would be to order a color chart or match up caps at the store. I think Mar-Hyde has a few bumper/trim paint colors but I haven't found them in stock anywhere, just dupli-color and SEM. Sometimes I wish old BMW's had the same support of restoration products as American muscle cars. lol

I think no matter what because of the age the color will never match exactly. it'll come close even when you have the exact match with code. it's just cheaper to go dup or sem since Mar-hyde is more commercial and probably cost a premium. Ive used similar products to paint my vinyl door panels and got close match to my leather but not exact.

but yeah, carquest in Vaughan is a good location. Tom the manager of the location is very knowledgeable. I paid 30.00 a can for the custom chip paint.

GL.

SEM "Graphite" was pretty close but not an exact match, needs to be a bit darker and less blue/green tint.

The search continues...
