Looking for input on a wagon
Hi guys, now that my E39 540iT is sold I'm looking for a newer wagon to replace it. My primary need is for to/from work transportation plus to the dog park with a 150lb dog. Might have another dog (same size) as well one day, so I have to consider that.
So far I have driven a bunch of E91 328xi Tourings (wasn't in love with the size or the ride) , and looked , but not driven 530XI and 535XI wagons. I've even toyed with the 550i idea.
I even drove a A6 wagon C6 (2008) which I liked the comfy ride quite a bit.
Just wondering if anyone can chime in on the maintenance side of an A6. I may even try an A4 (b7 or b8) wagon this weekend. I've heard the A8's are a nightmare , I don't want to get into that.
I'm not against a E46 wagon, but it would have to be very well maintained for me to jump at it.
Merc wagons are not an option for me, don't like them at all.
I'm not really into the E39s kicking around kijiji for 10-12 k either.
Any and all comments welcome.
Wes.

I have a nice 02 E46 Wagon for a reasonable 7k certified. Check out my ad in the for sale section.
Subary Legacy's 08 are quite nice too.

It took a long time to find, but I snagged an E61 530xi 6-speed for my mother this winter. It drives very nice, lots of space, etc. I think it drives leagues better than the E39 V8 Tourings.

Passat wagon. Cheap, decent and loads of space inside. Bigger than any 5-series. Get an '09 as it has the TSI motor but no DSG

I sold it for $14k. The new owner resold after 2 years for the same price.

Get a Volvo V70R... 300hp, can be found in a manual, awd, and actually can be bought for a not bad price considering what it is.

I've never looked inside an A4 Avant, but aren't they considerably smaller than a 5 touring? How about the Allroad?

The inside of an A4 S-line really surprised me, its nice. This one has the sport pack which is seats, steering wheel, suspension and wheels. The S-line is mid way between the A4 and S4.
I don't think they are much smaller. its still a big car.

Not big on Volvos at all. There is a Lemans blue on cinnamon V70R in my neighbourhood, but that is the only Volvo that has ever turned my head.

^ That's the only correct colour combo for a S60/V70R.
