LF: Loud (aftermarket) exhaust for E46 330ci

Hi guys,

Just bought an E46 330ci. It's too quiet compared to my E36!

I'm looking for a nice and loud aftermarket exhaust.

Not looking to spend too much money, which is why I'm looking for something used. Show me what you have!

Cops would poop on me for doing a muffler delete.

no they wont, for what? its not that you just cut the muffler off, you need to replace it with a set of pipes and tips.

research this mod, its popular on the 330's

I know of this mod, it's popular on Bimmerforums and E46Fanatics, I know... but I wouldn't have a muffler at all, which I'm sure the police in my area would have a problem with.

Fiat 500 Abarth's and SRT-4's don't even have mufflers from the factory. You drive like an adult, you'll be fine.

The cops wouldn't care about that - my car isn't a Fiat or a Dodge. My car DID come with a muffler from the factory.

Driving like an adult in my E36, I got pulled over just for the noise of my exhaust (which had a muffler).

That's probably because you look 5 years too young to be driving

Good luck with your search. Actual advice, the best sound investment on an M54 is headers. Changes it from the moaning flat pitched groan they all do to something actually resembling a free-revving straight six. Just a thought.

It's kind of apples to oranges to compare a turbocharged car with no muffler to an NA car with no muffler.

In theory sure, but a stock 500A or SRT-4 is louder than a 330 with a muffler delete. I've heard Magnaflows on 330s that due to their bassy drone actually seem louder than no muffler at all.

For sure. A silky smooth straight 6 isn't going to have the window shattering tone of a little 4 banger.

Hahaha

Thanks. I'll look into headers as well!

I think I'll likely be pulled over either way, for the reason that Jay mentioned plus the fact that I'll be driving a relatively attention-grabbing, loud, red BMW.

The difference at that point will be if I get a ticket or not.

I think I'd be a hell of a lot more likely to actually get a ticket without a muffler at all than with a muffler that is loud.

i think youll get a ticket either way if they give you one. loud muffler or no muffler as i have gotten a ticket for no muffler as well as having an improper muffler so it really doesnt matter. the ticket in the highway traffic act is improper/no muffler

these things are terrible on stainless. Luckily you only have two pipes to cut.

Cheapest loud exhaust you'll ever get...
