VANOS solenoid cleanup and repair?

Anyone have the VANOS solenoid packs repaired / resoldered recently? Looking for some steady, careful hands...

i thought you were looking for the m52, that sucks!

I could point you to an electrician but you'd have to tell him exactly what needs doing. i'd call the usual suspects im sure one of the local shops can do this for you.

is there a writeup of what needs to be done online somewhere?

How hard can it be?

For 800 bucks buy yourself a decent light with a magnifying glass.

I'll do them for you if you want

I just replaced mine last night with a rebuilt one from Besian systems. It's $300 minus $150 core deposit. Huge difference in performance
Check out their website
Good luck

the solenoid? i didn't even know besian made rebuilt solenoids.

i rebuilt (rocco rebuilt) my vanos on my m52, that made a big difference. if there was a big diff from just the solenoid it was probably failing.

The idea was to avoid the 800 buck spend. I know I am technically capable of doing it myself (and would probably be more careful at it, they're delicate pieces), time permitting, but time does not permit right now...

My point was for 50 bucks you can get a decent light, not 800

They have it for the S54, not sure if they do others. The codes I was getting indicated Solenoid failure so I knew it was gone: P0010,P0012,P0013,P0015
