1987 E30 Coupe 5 Spd 325

Hi there,

I have for sale a 1987 BMW E30 325e 5 Speed Coupe.

I bought this last year, to build as a Daily Driver, as I've always wanted a E30, but now I've just picked up a low mileage Porsche, and no longer need this E30.

Car has 202,600 KM on, it when I bought it, the timing belt was snapped and some of the valves were bent. It's running now and running strong with a lot of new parts:

- 12 Brand new valves
- Brand new valve seals
- Cylinder head cleaned and built by Athenia Machines in Hamilton
- Brand new head gaskets
- Brand new head bolts
- Brand new Gates timing belt & tensioner pulley
- Brand new thermostat & gasket
- Brand new accessory belts
- Brand new spark plugs
- Brand new cap & rotor
- Tires are like new, only has about 5,000 KM on them
- Brakes are very good
- Brand new Spal racing fan to replace the clutch fan
- Brand new alignment

- Underneath of the car is beautiful, everything is solid, no rust in the floor, car has been rust proofed recently

- Typical crack on the dash, but the interior is super clean. Front driver seat has a tear.

Asking $3500 OBO, price is negotiable as I need this gone ASAP.

Please email namvcn@hotmail.com or call/text (905) 870-5550 if you want to see the car, I'm located in Hamilton.

I can email more pictures of the underneath, the floor and the battery tray if you like.

Thank you, Nam

Is it an eta or an "i" model?
The pic of your tach shows 7k redline. If I'm not mistaken, the eta is suppose to have a 5k redline?
Good luck with sale. If its an 87 "i" model you should correct your thread, May get more bites as the "e" motor is usually not that popular.

The redline actually starts at 6250 rpm.

I punched the VIN into BMW VIN Decoder and it says its definitely a 325e.

Was told these are the heads you need if you want to build a stroker, and because its a 87 you don't need any etest.

So it's got the head off a 325i on it then? It's a common thing to do with the 325e.

The factory tach for the 325e only goes up to 5000rpm

the ETA and super ETA are slightly different. I believe it has to do with the rod throw. As I understand, the super eta comes with the I head and intake manifold and not the "E" intake. I believe this would also apply to the "eta" models if it were changed. Bmw did install 2.7ltr engines in cars otherwise supposedly needing a 2.5 I have come across this quite a bit in the past and was stumped. I later found out that at some point bmw had a shortage of blocks therefore fitting the 325i with a 2.7 block and 2.5 cylinder head and intake.
I drove a 4 door 325i which went like stink..couldn't figure out for the life of me until I found out the block was a 2.7 litr. I also came across one recently in a vert. where the the car had a 2.7 litre motor. perpendicular side mount oil filter gave it away.

The car is an '87 though so it can't be a seta. The seta was '88 only right?
