Love at first sight, e34 #2

hey everyone. been a while since i posted since i havent had anything to post.

as all of you know i had a black 95 e34 525i which was a little rough around the edges but hey, i loved it.
so heres a story for all of you. Prom night i was on my way home from camp fortune at about 2am the first corner after camp fortune is quite a surprise. I was taking it pretty quick then next thing i knew it got tighter, the car last grip in the back and once the tires hit the grass it all went from there. flipped three times then slid a few feet down the ditch on the side and stopped by hitting a tree. didnt realise i was upside down til i undid my seatbelt and smacked my head on the ceiling of the floor. first thing was to make sure my friend was okay and he was fine so we both crawled out of the driver side back window which i had to kick out ( it was already cracked) once we were out we made sure we were okay . the only damage i had was a little rack on my collar bone from the seatbelt and my friend didnt even have a scratch on him.

so now $420 later the car is home from chelsea quebec where it was in an un-monitored scrap yard where a majority of my audio was stolen. i got a good look at the car and the engine bay was almost untouched except for the air box and power steering fluid reservoir where cracked. i decided i would re attach the battery put the car in neutral and see if it would start, and it did ! better than every before haha. that brought my day up cuz destroying the car wasnt a complete loss.

and now to the good part! i was on kijiji and stumbled upon a nice little 520 e34 from italy that had been imported to egypt in 07 then from there it was imported to ottawa in 2012 by the person who had owned it for the last 2 years in egypt. sadly when it got here there was no antifreeze and the head cracked. when i read that part of the description i knew it was destiny ! a perfect shell that has never even seen winter! and a destroyed car with a perfectly running engine and tranny!

so i went to see the 520 asap and when i got there i immediately fell in love with the euro smileys , manual seats, brand new reupholstered interior zero rust basketweaves . everything was just perfect.

so now the 520 is mine and in my driveway. i have all the sevice records but i cant read any of them since theyre arabic, i have the service/user manuals but those are italian!

its going to be a project for sure since ive never done an engine swap
after being in captaine34's turbo 520 i want boost! something about the turbo kicking in is just amazing, feels like a rocket ship or something. anyways it will be a very slow project since im on a part time job budget . first thing is to pull the old engine out and anything else i can salvage from the other e34 then scrap it ( RIP first car). once the engine is out im considering doing a gasket set then once its ready i want to drop it into the car to get everything running. once thats said and done id like to get some coilover since the difference in handling from my old e34 vs Captain e34's is crazy and i love the low/adjust ability of coilovers. theeeen slowly turbo build

if anyone has any suggestions or tips or anything to say about swapping the engine it would be nice since ive never swapped an engine before so ill need all the help i can get.

without further ado heres some pictures!

That's a nasty curve, I saw a few people get caught out there when I was in high school. You're extremely lucky to have gotten out unscathed!

That being said, best of luck with the build!

wow, i just reread my original post, I really need to reread my posts before i post them. i also need to learn how to edit them. anyways today before the rain hit i got to digging into the 520. I posted a pic of the cracked head. and another pic is a fuse wired to what i think is the ignition relay, clearly the fuse is too big because too high of a current is flowing through and melting the wires. Im pretty sure the fuse has a link to the immobilizer which is also wired directly into the DME/ECU! anyways just a small update for now. hopefully in the next few days ill be pulling the m50tub25 out of the trashed e34 (rip)

heres an update, been a while since ive been able to put in decent work. the car is in pieces , most of the interior is out, the suspension is mostly out and finally, The engine is out. it looks pretty similar to the last pics of my old e34 lol.

been waiting about 3 months for my coilovers

next is to clean up the old engine, take the harness off of it since i left the harness from the new car in the car, install the new clutch, get new lower control arms and swaybar links and finish putting in my new rotors , braided brake lines and swap the front calipers with my 525 calipers.

hopefully the pics will be a good size this time.

Glad you guys are okay looks like it was a pretty bad crash.
Dont know if anyone's told you that your old E34 would've made a great donor car for an OBD1 E30 24v swap , pretty much everything you would need for the swap lol. So even after crashing it you may have gotten decent coin for it, But glad you decided to bring it back to life in some way.
Also the fact that your 520 was imported from my native homeland is awesome! if you ever sell that thing do me a favor and shoot me a pm, would be cool to own that specially that I love E34's anyway.
PS. The "Service Records" that you've got in arabic are actually "Certificates of Vehicle Information" or pretty much registration papers for a 1976 Vespa motorcycle, I swear I couldn't make that up. LOL

haha, if i ever do sell it il let you know, i doubt itll ever happen though . I was considering swapping it into an e30 myself but i ended up landing a nice deal on the new e34. I have a huge package full of Arabic and i think some Italian records as well ( since the car was in italy first) . I have no idea what any of them mean LOL. Maybe sometime ill get them translated. its nice to know what those papers are for .

small update, my coilovers finally came in, the rears are installed i just need to get the fronts welded to the OEM hub. i installed my stoptech SS brakelines on the rears, im still waiting to get my parts car so i can get the bigger calipers for the front. just for something to do i made my bumper magnetic so my plate can be held there without drilling holes. I put my duckbill front lip on, its from a vw passat b3. i finally ordered a rear main seal and a few other things so hopefully ill have the engine in late next week.

edit** i have no idea why but the pictures i attach are posting lengthwise. Ill probably just start hosting them form imgur or something , unless any of you know how of a better way

Started from the bottom. Haha just kidding . I decided to I'd splurge a bit to make the process easier . also we had a hell of a time dropping my old subframe and I didn't want to mangle this one.
