Looks like the car is still in Europe, funny enough that's a UK plate but its LHD.

Folks like that usually still have the car somewhere in Europe but won't ship it until its paid, which can be risky.

Consider it's a 525TDS which is worth about 2-3k Euro, I think he's overcharging by quite a bit even if it's included shipping and handling fees.

Check mobile.de for market pricing, another thing is lack of parts here.

Something fishy here: Those pictures were taken in Europe, quite possibly the UK (yellow and black plates), and the car has Euro plates.

The ad says

Certified and emissions tested
.

Certified where?
If it's in the UK it's an MOT test and not valid here.
I'd be very careful, and want to hear the interesting story.

Not necessary fishy, most likely it means the seller will ensure the car is certified when sold, the car does have a UK plate, the # shows up as registered to an E39.

although he changed the photo where the plate could be seen, may be seller browse on Max?

Call if you really want a diesel e39 that's about as slow as it gets, the older version is between 110hp-140hp, it's the same as ones was in e34, only after 2000 they got the M57 which was 180-200hp.
