Check back a few pages and see the adventures of the engine swap. Ditched the M10 for an M42. A generic Getrag 250 is the transmission in action. They go great when paired with a short diff! And thats Kurt at the wheel! He drove it nice and tidy!

Just when I was starting to feel good about the M42, you just had to say it out loud that its slow. LOL. Faackkk.

BigD, I'm happy to see you are warming up to this idea.
Rudy, sorry, these engines suffer from dilatory syndrome.

Yeah except he can't fit a bigger engine in there Plus I would goad him into more ambitious power goals

How many feet was that firewall moved back?

Probably nothing. M20 swap guys just chop the nose panel to fit Rads and stuff. Its actually a big engine bay... it just appears small, especially on stock cars. I chopped that upper firewall bit out of mine, makes it much roomier.

I'll have to give benefit of the doubt since I've never really looked at a 2002 but that engine bay doesn't look stock. The firewall looks worked and the rad support looks like it was redone (and it still barely fits)

The upper section of the firewall curves forwards on '02s, its what covers the heater/fan box, and also holds the hood locking linkage. Thats the bit I chopped out of mine, because yeah, it definitely makes it look smaller than it is. It gives the illusion that the lower part of the firewall is pushed back significantly.

Nice! Is the rad in the stock location? Looks like there might even be room for an e-fan

No, the whole inner section of that front clip is gone. Check back on page 40 or 41 for pics of my engine bay. You can see where the original front clip stops.
