Mantracker actor shot by Police

Ottawa Citizen
Published: Saturday, August 03, 2013

A suspected impaired driver who was shot and wounded by Alberta Mounties has been identified as a regular character on the reality TV show Mantracker. A relative said Friday that Curtis Hallock was shot in the leg and arm and was to have surgery in hospital. RCMP say two officers were trying to pull over a vehicle on Thursday night in Grande Cache. A confrontation ensued and a man was shot. He fled, but was caught a short time later and taken to the local hospital. Mantracker airs on the Outdoor Life Network and features an expert tracker and his sidekick on horseback who pursue two contestants in the remote wilderness.

so now our federal police are ending pursuits in a hail of gunfire over spike strips. and we can reasonably assume he was never out of his car in this 'confrontation' as he fled again after being shot.

Again you're reading between the lines in search of something to fit your presuppositions of the actions taken by police. Nothing indicates that they used gunfire to stop a chase, a confrontation leading to the shooting actually suggests that he was stopped and they interacted prior to the attempt to flee.

Let the story actually surface, the things you "reasonably assume" as of late haven't been all that reasonable.

If you read via other sources, he fled on foot. Perhaps they should have strung shoe-laces across the road in hopes of tripping him, or would the impact of the fall be too brutal for you?

awesome! you're a real mouthpiece - for statism aren't ya?

While Your Link also does Not confirm that it was a foot chase after being shot, it does lay this additional info & opinion/ factoid:

Bowen says Hallock has yet to be charged by police.

"We are very grateful that he is doing well and that he is safe but we are really concerned about being shot at repeatedly by RCMP while unarmed," Bowen said

yet to be charged & repeatedly shot while unarmed - by two cops. so 2 against one & they still have to shoot the guy, an unarmed guy. and before you go off on some demented state officers can do no wrong tyrade - please STFU & appreciate if he was armed it would be all over the papers.

but hey just for humor - what will they claim? he was actually chuck norris in disguise? or sorry we just thought he was a regular indian that we're just used to abusing because of our old federal gov policy of Genocide??

Put yourself in the cops shoes when you pull over 5 gang bangers that come out to fight you - what would you do? Let them beat the sh!t of you and take your gun and have a police handgun with high capacity magazine out in the wrong hands?

Police are just normal guys that me and you went to school with - mosy never shot a gun until getting hired - they are not trained tactical ninjas

The newspapers never have the full story youre reading their version based on minimal base facts the police issued to them. 5 men 1 officer pulled over for impaired driving - shots fired - 2 shot 1 dead. Then the paper exaggerates the story from there.

All your comments are based on the newspapers version of events which are Spun. You werent there, you arent told what exactly happened or lead to the shooting so its not fair to be so quick to decide the cop shot him unjustified.

Shooting someone is not fun or something anyone wants to do. I cant see the cops wanting to do it - they can get charged criminally if found unjustified. One wouldn't do it unless they really did fear for their life

Considering this entire thread has been a compilation of your assumptions to justify your prejudice of police, yea...I'm laughing and will throw some jabs at you.

Again with the assumptions. You do NOT know the fully story, yet you imply unwarranted. Assumption after assumption to justify your irrational judgements.

Can't just let it be coincidental that he's native, nope...gotta bring race and oppression into it! Really making a case for yourself with this one Sharpton.

Exactly - too many ppl online like this today - did u take part in g 20 protests too?

You werent there - you atent getting full story - your reading the newspapers spun story based on minimal facts the police issued to them. Its ridiculous to comment until police release all the facts after the oversight body investigates if it was justified.

Ever notice the siu and other oversight bodies keep coming back months after everyone bashed the cop for shooting unwarranted and the siu finds them justified. And the siu is there to charge police they are against the police.
