What engine oil do you guys use for your daily darive S52? All year around?
Just did an engine swap, what do you guys use for your S52? It's gona be my DD and dealer only has 5W30 or 10W60, either one is ideal for S52.
I spent some time reading and searching, most ppl say they use 5w40, I'm thinking may be Mobile 1 5W40? I just want to konw what do most of you guys use? Considering I'm gona use it in winter and in GTA it gets around -15/-20 in winter.
Input are much appreciated!

I use 5w40 in my m50, I was using Rotella T (I think Rotella T6 to be exact) but now I have a source for LiquiMoly cheaper than the Rotella so I used that last oil change. No problems associated with the oil.

I don't believe they make 5W40. Only 0W40 if I recall correctly.

Putting my 2 cents here...
What weight oil to use also depends on the condition of your engine too. If your engine has high mileage, you may not want to use lighter oil as oil consumption will be high due to worn piston rings. Know the oil pressure is good indicator but you will have to do some mods to get the reading (from start up to operating temperature).
I have a E36M3 and I believe the manual does say (have to double check) 5W30 is the standard oil. I did for the longest time until I switch to 5W40. Then again I stopped driving my M in the winter time.

I try to stick with LL-01 approved oils.
Recently that included Castrol Edge 5W40, I've also used 5W40 Motul during track season and 0w30 German Castrol during winters.

I have been using Liquimoly 5W40 during winter in Ottawa (-30)and summer time and it's good np at all.
so either Liquimoly or castrol 5W40 is good for your S52.
5W30 is fine too.
