E36 M3 Exterior Detail (Picture Heavy)

Gave the E36 M3 of R.S.C a nice exterior detail this weekend. Decided to make up a nice write up for everyone to see! Thanks to Flav for coming with the car to help out and take photos!

Started with a wash and clay

Wheels cleaned up

Some photos of the damaged paint

Exhaust cleaning

A nasty key mark to fix!

Gone!

Began the first stage of polishing.

Getting better:

Spoiler taped off. Polished on the left, untouched on the right.

After an IPA wipedown, sealed the paint with Autoglym HD. Great wax.

Unfortunately got dark for finish photos. Camera flashes and Brinkmann lights show off the paint though

Hopefully the owner is as happy as I am with the turnout!

That looks amazing. How many hours did you spend on it to look like that? Great job

Thanks man! Took about two days of work. The most time consuming part was trying to get that key mark out. Part of it was right down to the metal and it was difficult to fill.

Looks great! Are the swirls completely gone? How many stages of polishing did you do?

Kurt did an amazing job with my car. What I was really impressed with is how he fixed the key marks and my sun roof which had an huge amount of scratches and swirl marks.

The entire car is now swirl free and the colour of the paint really pops out at you now.

And big thanks to Flaviu for bring my car to Ancaster!

Yeah the car is a different color from when I first started working on it. The clearcoat almost looked brown.

I just recently decided to start doing some detailing on the side

looks pretty nice!

what polish/compound did you use?

have you thought about using a coating or selant instead of the autoglym wax? lock in that nice polish job a bit longer!

the photography was great also! that also helps display a great detail job!

I've been really happy with the HD wax on my own car and have stuck to it for now.

I'm going to make a point of trying out some other products in the future though.
