Hunting for a used Z4

I'm in California right now and have gone through my share of cars down here. There's no worries about rust down here, but a lot of cars are salvage and are not garaged, leading to wear from the sun.

I'm looking to grab a Z4 but I've no idea what the service schedule for them is.

I've heard at 150k km, alot of these cars require a new starter, alternator and lower control arm bushings. Is there anythign else to look out for? Are the doors on a 2003 Z4 supposed to have a slightly harsher knock/close than any of 5 or 3 series? I noticed this on a Z4 I recently test drove.

The cars that I'm looking at are in the 65k to 90k mile range (110k km to 150k km). Manual, of course. There aren't many 3.0s down here, unfortunately.

Edit: One of the Z's I'm looking at has a bent front fender from an apparant previous previous owner who "let the car slip on the jack" and caused the jack to hit the fender, giving it a dent on the bottom. How much does it cost to get a Z4 front fender part and have it painted?

join zpost.com and keep an eye on the FS section - there are always cars coming up there.

Watch out for the electronic steering column, it's a $3600 part!

I came here to prove you wrong, and instead surprised myself too.
Damn, that's an expensive part.

Cheapest I've found it online is around $2600 USD.

Better find a good source of used Z4 parts before purchasing one.
It's a much smaller market than the 3 / 5 series.

doesn't seem to be a really common problem, no one I know with a z4 has had to change this yet
