heater fan suddenly stopped working...lighter too - might need blower motor

I pulled out my radio to hook up rca cables...I did not mess with wiring, other than running the amp source wire and a pair of rca's, they go under the back seat (was removed and put back) and into the trunk.

Now....the lighter socket and blower fan do not work at all, they are like dead now. The fan, I think did not work right away, but the lighter did for few days and died.

I pulled out the stereo again to check may be I accidentally unplugged something, but everything seems to be fine, no loose wire or plugs.
it may be unrelated but my left high beam also suddenly stopped working short while back...all fuses look fine and were replaced with new old pieces.

Could I damage something inside the stereo shaft?
I'm at a loss now. Please help.

car is 1991 318i.

I'd double check the fuses. Sounds like you blew a few. Even though they "look" fine you've most probably blew them. Replace the corresponding fuses. check owners manual. might want to unscrew the two holding the ashtray housing in and see if the wires didn't come loose. easiest way to check the lighter; change fuse and then push the lighter button in. If it gets hot you know it works!! lol

I did not touch wiring and I also tried to swap fuses. This did not help.

Could I accidentaly just "do" something to make them stop working? Something that is not related to wiring.

Does someone have a blower motor for sale for my 1991 318i?

It's funny, mine did the same thing after I swapped the stereo, but it also killed my A/C. I just cleaned out the connectors with contact cleaner, cleaned the blower resistor, and cleaned the ashtray lighter and lightbulb connectors too. Works fine now.

Use a test light, I'd check the switch panel to see if it's getting power and the same for the headlights, it'll tell you everything you need to know, it saved my life from chasing all the wires from putting in new stereo.

if your stereo is blowing shit up that means you have a terrible ground connection. check all your ground wires!!!

I checked ground wire under the rear seat and it was snug. All plugs inside the stereo shaft seems to be connected...hmm

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with stereo, but I cant figure out what exactly. Keep in mind, the stereo was already installed for number of years and I did not touch wiring, other than hooking up RCA and amp remote.

Update. I removed the blower fan and i think it is done. the blades hardly turn....so i'm in need of a new fan now. Here what is puzzling a bit. I used multimeter to measure current at the terminals and the reading remained zero. I see fuses are good.
Should i be getting 12v for the blower motor withingnitiln on and fan set at 4th speed?

You won't be able to measure current if there is no load. (The blower) And when you do, it needs to be measured in series.

You want to measure voltage.

Resolved!

The solution, as I was thinking, was very simple. I had to take off under the dash cover on the driver's to run the wires....apparently upon putting things back together, this said cover had pushed on some wire plug and disconnected it causing the blower and lighter to stop operating.
