You have to have a B12 5.7 next.

I couldn’t agree more Sam!

Wow that's really rare. Congrad's on the new addition to your stable. I'm sure the E39 will feel right at home next to your other fine examples of Alpina.

PS. I would leave it stock also

Al

I just realize it is a slicktop! that and it's a B10? that's uber rare, may be it needs a custom set of Alpina brakes.

I have a Switchtronic Alpina as well (E36 in my case). I don't think the transmission itself is an Alpina-specific piece. Usually it's a standard ZF auto, but Alpina changes the code in the TCU for quicker shifts and to enable the push button shifting. The result is actually pretty good - much more satisfying than a traditional auto. But there's still a bit of a delay on shifts, especially on downshifts. So ultimately it's not quite as good as a dual clutch transmission, but those are ~15 years newer so maybe it's an unfair comparison. I've never driven an SMG so I can't comment there...

I have days where I like the Switchtronic and days where I don't. In my case I am converting to a 6-speed manual. Everyone tells me I should keep it original too, but I know I'll enjoy it more with a manual and I don't build cars for the next owner.

EITHER WAY that B10 is an amazing machine. Very cool that it's a lightweight model. I love the Softlines and it looks like you've got the ones where the valve stem is hidden under the center cap. I definitely look forward to seeing and hearing more!

Yes, the transmission is a ZF unit but modified and tuned by Alpina for Alpina cars. How ever, I appreciate your input, good info.
Well the weather is getting warm and I think people will start showing up at meets and shows in the next few weeks, and I too looking forward to meet you and your Alpina on one of these meets or shows.

Cheers,

Sia

I'll drop by next Friday; hope all the usual suspects are out of their hibernation.

The bad boy is here finally and is sitting in my bunker, registered and waiting for insurance coverage to kick-in once the MTO system takes 48 hours, so I can get my license plate and sticker. It is a very impressive car and I can’t wait to take it for a spin as soon as all the legality settles down.
