Yup, the later models, 2005+ were better, albeit not that much better.
But definitely stay away from 2002-2004

I've seen the ZGM on a 745i fail for (presumably) no good reason, car wouldn't get out of limp mode until unit was replaced (has to be new, 850$) and coded (an hour labour).
No thanks.

^ Isn't it the same story with the M5's though? The E6x I think?

Yes stay away from 2002-2005.
Either go retro E38 or 750Li.
I had three friends with brand new 745Li and 760Li both were junk. Electrical and software issues galore, sercurity system problems TPMS problems, loads of maintenance off warranty engine problems... it goes on.
My 740i Sport was far less headaches and I let them know it haha.

1) Balling is retarded. I spend my money carefully.
2) Me having been in a shop while this is happening tells you what?

My late model 2003 745Li was been great for me, only driven in summers and no major engine or electronic issues the 5 years Ive had her. But I'm rare indeed, for any E65/66 grab 2005+ face lifted model with warranty if possible. Any work I have done has always been by the dealership since I only trust them with this line of bimmers.

LOL I own a 745Li I actually Jusst gut it last summer I know the guys that sold it to me well... 3rd motor btw but when the 2nd motor went I bought the car on the condition of a 4.8 put in which they found with 20k on it... So far the car friggen ROCKS maybe it's cause I been in fox body Mustangs since I was 13 which is when I did my first rebuild/resto with money I saved blah blah the 04 I got works prefectly fine in the electric depot. As for service and parts it's just who you know cause I think it's not bad and to an extent affordable and the prices are expectable... Advice... Don't buy what you can't service
