I really think the media made it "cool" to hate a political leader and that's very very sad.
I am sure that he does not play by the rules how some big fish from Ottawa wants it. He said something like;"we got too many spoiled immigrants in here".. That's the problem right there because those guys from Ottawa wanna pack up as many as possible new commers here, but they want to leave the public transit as it was in the 1980s. Than they will just tell you something like ; " Toronto is a world class city"..... Yeah right... We don't even have the train link to our main airport... Come on man, I been to many former Soviet cities such as Budapest, BUCHAREST and so on, and we are way behind on the public transit... This city has become a joke one of a kind.

how does that have anything to do what Rob Ford is doing as a mayor?

like your talking about provincial government and federal and provincial funding. which has absolutely nothing to do what Rob Ford can do with the resources he has.

like its pathetic that your quoting what Rob Ford is saying rather than looking at what he is accomplishing... As a mayor. Not as a talk show host.

Sirex BS Ford puts in more hours than any of the members of City Hall, yes he does dumb things that the left would jump on.If he can only stop his damn football coaching, get a driver , stop being stubborn and start kissing asses of the left wing media like Miller was a pro at he do all right. He stared down the unions,he privatize the garbage pick up which they are doing a great job at,he can only compromise with the left on certain aspects of cutting cost he get re-elected again.Hes slowing cleaning up the metro housing mess, hes not providing money to pet projects and he locked up union demands for the next 4 years saving millions.Subway is the best for Toronto but funding them is a huge issue,I came back from Hong Kong/Japan vacation and subways rule these cities, they are clean, modern,on time and the retail space they build around these stations pays off the cost of building each station.I vote for Ford again and hope Chow goes down in flames if she runs,if she wins the tax payers in Toronto are screwed..

subways work in high density population centres. Toronto isn't one of them.

In any case thats just one small thing.

Don't start playing with your assholes just yet. It's not over until he's actually out of office.

I don't understand what you see in him.

Anyway, they are probably going to let him stay because $3,000 is quite laughable.

But still.

I see the values of a quality human being. Just one that happens to be incapable of hiding contempt for people, rules etc that piss him off... something I can identify with. Ultimately, that makes him unfit for politics, so I was pretty shocked that he got elected. Any other politician would have taken this result [today's ruling] and spun it to within an inch of its life to score a trillion political points, getting him 99% of the vote next time. But I bet instead, his mouth will just get him in more trouble. Even the judge basically called him a dick. If he wanted to get off, he could have gone on the stand and said "I didn't know this was a conflict of interest, I'm sorry Big Daddy, I'll be good". Instead, sounds like he basically said this is all ****ing bullshit... which is something only a person who puts great importance in being honest and honorable could do.

A proper politician needs to consider everything they do (words they speak and write, how they look, actions they take etc), for how it could possibly hurt them or benefit them. Ford does what he feels is right, and then deals with whatever comes of it. He'd make a great dictator.

Alright, back to Star Wars on Spike.

I don't know about honest and honorable and I don't think it's bullshit.

Honest would have been saying he didn't know. Honorable would have been apologizing for his actions. Not to mention it's been a while that this has been going on.

You have to be pretty obtuse not to know what a conflict of interest is in politics and in life. Most people with jobs have contracts that outline conflicts of interest and the consequences are usually pretty clearly. It's pretty clear in my job. They even give us a handbook.

Just to put this into perspective:

A quote I read on the comments of Globe and Mail

Quote:
It is a little more complicated than that. He specifically contacted people who were LOBBYING city hall. You are trying to get a contract with the city and the mayor sends a letter on city letterhead to ask for donations. It's a subtle form of extortion and implies corruption. You donate to my charity and maybe your chances for getting a city contract go up. Maybe they do and maybe they don't. You never know if you win and if you don't win the contract, you will wonder if things would have been different had you donated. That creates the appearance of corruption and it was an appropriate ruling from the guy who thinks he is entitled to everything and has absolute power.
Maybe that makes it clear.

No that would be neither honest nor honorable. He knew it's a conflict and he's not sorry. The reason I think he did what he did, as I said above, is that he thinks it's not a big deal. Yes, it's technically breaking the rule but he believed it's not the spirit of the rule, since he wasn't doing any of it for his own gain. I think he's the type of guy who feels that, in the end, all that matters is righteousness and that people will see things for what they are. But it doesn't work that way in politics. In the ideal world, that's the kind of guy that would be in every position of power. But in the real one, you need someone who knows the song and dance (like going to the gay parade instead of continuing the tradition of spending time with his family on that day) to keep the lemmings quiet, so that work can get done. So he may not be fit for politics but as for what I see in him, I see a good guy.
