Any reason you went to steel fenders instead of composite? You've already done a decent amount and seemed like you were going to do it before to replace the old ones.

And I hope by having obd1 stuff to figure out you meant you had to convert your harness to work with the obd2 motor.

Plus the higher resolution of fuel/timing maps because of the more powerful DME and the ability to more easily tune/pull codes.

Yea I was never super happy with the fiberglass fender i made last year. They looked good from far and did the job, however, i think i can get a better result from steel. They will be much more sturdy as well. I may make a mold of them after if they turn out nice, and if i have time. That way I can make some fiberglass fenders as well.

I did the obd1 conversion by using an m50 obd1 harness with all obd1 sensors. For my application, this was the quickest/easiest way to go. It is also a much simpler system with less crap to deal with in the engine bay.

Small update. Haven't done much lately, but it's time I start cracking down.

Front Fenders are Pretty much done. Not too sure if i'm going to be doing the rears. It's a lot of work, and I have a lot of other work to get done that is more important. Ill leave it until the end then decide if it's worth it.

Also got the motor out today. I decided to cut out the front core/rad support to simplify engine removal/install. It makes it so much easier to pull it straight out instead of constantly fighting with the leveler.

I also want to push the rad a bit more forward to free up a bit of space in front of the engine. The plan is to build a custom removable core support for this.

thats awesome! I'll be watching with interest. I've been thinking about doing the same thing so I can make a shroud that vents out the hood

Why don't you just tube chassis the front end? Make a removable front structure that sits on top of it!

There's a wicked 2002 build on r3v iirc in which he build a smart removable front clip, should check it out.

Very cool build! Definitely not going into too much detail. Most likely will be just some square tubing with some tabs to hold the front end together.

haha yup - just after i posted that I realized I lied - it's been "winterized"

IE: water replaced with coolant and battery pulled.

Hopefully will be getting it in the garage this weekend... we'll see!

So the front clip is almost done. Still need to weld on a bunch of tabs to hold the lights, grills and kidney's on, but for the most part, im pretty happy with how it is turning out.

Mounting points:

Rad mounted on:

I dropped the rad about 2" from the stock location and moved it forward about 2". This will give me enough space to install the spal puller behind it with a bit of room to spare.

The great thing is, the stock core support weighed 9lbs and this one is now at 8lbs. Just a good feeling knowing im not adding weight to the car!
