Rant on Greenlife water - knocking on your door

Well I went to work yesterday at my minimum wage job and came home to find that one hour after I left for work. these guys showed up at my house. My wonderful wife let these guys in and they convinced her our water was unsafe for our consumption. They installed the unit. So I guess we are now the proud owners of this system at a cost of $34.95 and a annual increase of 3.5% for the next 5 years. To break this agreement will cost $450 as far as I can tell. I am furious that my wife fell for this scam.

If the government and everyone else knows its a scam is there really no way out? cant you tell them you just purchased the house and have no idea what your paying for? can you called BBB on them or something?

Sounds as hydro scam where they come to your door, say they want to freeze up the rates, but they are switching you over...

We never answer the door anymore unless we are expecting someone.

It annoys me when they sneak up as I walk to my car, or doing something outside or in the garage.

Apparently the paper girl in my area doesn't get paid, she only makes money if I tip her. I told her to stop bringing paper to my house, it goes straight into the recycling box. anyways.

I have encountered this guys too in Bradford, they came in and went down the basement to check my water connection. Then went up stairs and did some fake water test where the water changes colour. Funny thing is I just got a letter from the municipality saying beware of these guys and the top water is perfectly safe. ROFL sad part is a couple of my neighbors bought the service.

Exactly, it's beyond me why anyone would accept a job if they aren't getting paid or let their children accept it. Maybe if she was honest about that part I'd feel bad and tip her, but telling me a lie to get money out of me just makes me loose any sympathy for you.

Since I stopped answering the door, I see that they leave an envelop suggesting a $6 tip and further claiming that is the only way they get paid.

Is that $34.95 per year or month?, i presumed its montly, if it is per month better to pay the $450 to get out or buy out right, just like water tank rental..

If I was Mayor, going door to door selling or telemarketing would be illegal !
