I am thinking that if you own an E30 as I do that there is no opposition to owning an older car. I have around $3000 to use towards our car. I want to know what you guys drive and maybe get some suggestions. I want something quick and wife says with 4 doors. I am really leaning towards a car with a turbo but not a big deal. I currently have a 97 Saab 9000, so around that size with 170hp or above and torque to go with it. I am basically trying to find the sedan that is the most powerful, handles well and the most fun and wont kill me in repairs/maintenance.

For 3 grand you can probably find a decent E36 325 or 328 sedan. Both cars make around 190hp, 328 has more torque.

I'd like to get myself another Subaru when I'm ready to retire the E30 from winter duty permanently.

I had a '97 2.2L wagon a while back and it was a great car all things considered. Probably less than $1500 at the time, but for $3k you'd get a much more modern AWD subaru. I feel like I've met a few Old BMW/Subaru guys before.
