Navigation Update on New 2009+ iDrive

Hi all,

I have a 2009 BMW 335i xDrive Coupe with the new iDrive system.

I wanted to update my current navigation maps (2009) to the new 2011 maps.

BMW quoted me $650!!!!

Anyone know where i can get this cheaper or if this is price is negotiable?

ya i have but the new iDrive navigation requires activation codes... if only i knew someone at BMW

Bringing this thread back up. I have an 07 335i that I'd like to update the navi on. I've "obtained" the maps. I am going to burn the images onto a DVD. Question is whether I will have to go through the same rigamorale of entering activation codes, etc.

i am pretty sure you're in the clear bud,... it should be as easy as inserting DISC 1 and then shutting off your car for about 10 seconds, then starting it up and the process should start from there... i heard it can take upto 3hrs, so you might want to get an external battery charger... you can also google the instructions... good luck!

Quick question - how do I update my maps? I have a 2008 328i with 2009 maps. I just bought the 2011 maps. How do I update this? Can I not without the dealer?

Also - can I update the firmware?

Im in the same boat. Want to update my 06 Nav. Trying to figure out what the easiest and best way to do this is. I dont want any system issues and slowdowns with the Nav. Any suggestions? Thnks!

Guys, with the old navigation it should be as easy as mentioned in my last post above (google te instructions for more details)...

As for models with the new iDrive... Anyone have any info?

Even if you knew someone, the activation codes are generated through BMW Germany.

It'd be easy to do if you had the old style iDrive with 2 CD/DVD drives in the dash, as they don't require activation codes.

if it works with a data DVD, try ebay.. got mine for 30$... it's a 2011 and my car is a 2008.
