Would the people in this thread paying the lowest care to share which companies they are with? I was paying 160/month for my 318i last winter with Wawanesa. I had one minor conviction at the time, which shouldn't affect much.

If your E30 is *NOT* your daily driver, and is more of less a "weekend" car you potentially qualify for classic car insurance.
you must: be 25 years old or older( I believe)
have a clean driving record
prove that you have a 2nd car, insured elsewhere as your daily driver.
if you can meet these criteria, you likely would be able to get a Silver Wheels plan through Lant Insurance company.
I have this, and it costs me $118 per year, $9/month.
however, my e30 sits in the garage 99% of the time.

In order to get classic car insurance, the vehicle value must be at least $7000, the vehicle must be well maintained in order to preserve its value or to grow in value and that vehicle must be at least 25 years old. It cannot be your daily driver (so you must have a valid and running insurane policy on your regular everyday use vehicle elsewhere). Severely modified vehicles will not qualify..
They may or may not require you to get an appraisal with photos.
Garage storage is preffered.

A lot of that isn't correct. Check Hagerty Insurance.
It does not have to be 25 years old, you do. It's not meant to be a daily driver, that is true. Severely modified vehicles are what they specialize in.

I was with Echelon for classic car insurance, now RSA. I have a couple basic rules: no tubbing, no 'chute and no commuting to work. I pay $220 a year for a $24K agreed value policy. I also drive it less than 2000kms a year, sometimes less than 1000. :!

Because the demographic of GT-R owners likely has less problems... Less owners too...

They probably don't have much good data on the GT-R. Heck, they may not even know what they have insured lol. I know a couple GT-R owners have tricked their company into thinking its a 240sx or something similar which is a horrible idea if you ever have to make a claim.
Imagine being someone who kills someone in an accident and the insurance company finds they misappropriated their info on the car? Denied claim and garnished wages for the rest of their life. I've seen it happen.

If you buy an e30 and try to get insurance I find that most companies will want a copy of a recent safety and photos to insure...there is a few companies that won't touch our cars due to age. It's kinda upsetting because most e30 owners are enthusiasts and take care of their vehicles but they are calling that a safety risk due to age..... I am paying $152 per month...I am 31 years old.
