Citytv News: Alternative wheel cleaner
Did anyone watch citytv news this afternoon? I heard on the radio they were going to test out different rim cleaners and then reveal some alternative cleaner. I'm kinda curious and I can't seem to find anything on the net.

All of the ones they tested require some scrubbing to get all of the brake dust out. The cheaper alternative is zep purple industrial cleaner.

Don't buy the crap they sell that says you don't need to scrub. They are sold in small quantities for 5-10$ and they don't work...without scrubing
And since you have to scrub anyway, buy the cheapest cleaner you can get that works with scrubing...
ZEP Commercial : Industrial Purple Cleaner and Degreaser was their choice for 12$ a gallon!

You sure ZEP won't degrade any clear
coat? When you mention purple I can only think of the Castrol Super Degreaser which definitely can.
Personally I use Sonax... Rarely ever need to scrub.

LOL I use ZEP all the time but not the purple, I use the calcium and lime remover. On light dust there is no need for scrubbing, obviously heavier neglect does but works like a charm, strong smell when spraying though. And no damage but needs to be rinsed very well and wiped to make sure no residue. I also cut it 50/50 with water so a bottle goes a long way!
I buy the big blue bottle in the cleaning section at Home Depot for around $19?

I piss on the wheel for 30 seconds, chug 3 beers and move on to the next one. It doesn't work very well and my car smells after.....
Seriously though, i use the autoglym line wheel cleaner and wouldnt use anything else.

Sonax all the way sure it's expensive but it works wonders! Try using something like chemical guys poorboys wheel sealant it will prevent brake dust from sticking to your rims

Cant beat a rag and a mild degreaser, does the best job and is the cheapest way to go.
