We travel to vancouver often. Now that all the competitive airlines were either shut down, bought out or otherwise disappeared, you're shit outta luck...
We used to fly for under $400 when the likes or Roots Airline, Canada 3000, Virgin Airlines, etc we're pushing the competition. Now, you are stuck with the usual suspects. $600ish is the price now a days... depending on when you are flying etc.
Westjet has sales on Thursday's on their site, but you gotta book it fast as seats are limited and might not have the route or dates you want.
Air Canada and Tango are pretty much it for flights to BC...

Problem with sunwing is that they have shit ass old planes. Plus limited schedules that never seem to work, at least for me...

But that's the thing. They're pretty much the same price. It's cheaper to go to California then BC on many cases.

You'll just have to keep checking, the only way you'll get a cheap flight is if someone has a sale.

I flew to Vegas with Sunwing and it was pretty newish 737NG. Hmm I think you have top fork out cash and take it like a horse. AC and WestJet got duopoly and they keep fares up high. Than again, it's not a short flight and oil is not cheap, so nobody wants to see another Jetsgo or Skyservice. The only thing is, skyservice done it very well and took care of everyone when they went out of business.

I am very sure Air Canada short haul fleet is about two decades old. It's just that they upgrade it often to justify the fares they change. You may get on B777, but not very often. Most of the time you are on a shorthaul A320/321 and older 767-300ER. They also got some E-Jet, but those can't make it to the West coast.

yeah, just checked, there are no flights from toronto to vancouver through flyporter.com...
with these sales, how much can you actuallly save, like at most $100.00?? if that's the case, guess it's not really much of a big deal for me to go crazy on, but every dollar counts right...
just hate when you do a quotes online, it's always before taxes, and when you get to the final billing, it's like "wtf"

People - porter is a SHORT HAUL carrier. They don't fly to Vancouver.
As far as sticker shock from taxes, all the travel sites has buttons that you can check off to show prices inc taxes.

Old isn't the problem. Old and NOT reconditioned is. Most times I've flown with AC and westjet they've been modernized.
