Questions for e30 ownership in Toronto

Hi folks,

Please bear with my elementary questions, as owning 'god's personal chariot' is a new realm for me.

Before I take a leap of faith and pick up an e30, what's involved with owning an older car such as a 1987-1990 e30 in Ontario, with respect to the government? Is a 22-25 year old car exempt from certain smog/emission tests, or subject to additional inspections?

Do things get complicated if said e30 is home to an s52 in the front? Does it have a chance in bat's hell to pass the required inspections/government-mandated tests?

Thanks in advance for any guidance and please feel free to mention anything that I may be overlooking in terms of the legalities. Hope to be part of the family real soon.
