Traction light/Check engine light

When i bought my car (I didnt know at the time) the traction control light in the center of the cluster and my check engine light both dont come on, do they run off a fuse or something that might have been pulled, or would they have to pul out the lights inside the cluster. originally we figured they pulled the check engine light but now i know the traction light doesnt work either and there is no reason to pull that light i figured maybe they run on the same fuse. so yea thats my question do the lights in the dash cluster run off fuses, that i could just replace to hopefully have those lights working again?

thanks a bunch,

Nick

Owners manual should show what runs off each fuse

Each light probley doesn't have it's own fuse, but if you want to check if a fuse has been pulled or what is run off a common fuse you can check the owners manual

How much do you want to bet that the previous owner put electrical tape over the CEL and the TC light?

The bulbs dont run of individual fuses. Take the cluster out/apart and find out if there is electrical tape over the bulbs.

I can guarantee you that there is

PS, you dont need a mechanic to check the fuses

If you need a copy of the owners manual , download it here http://www.linquist.net/motorsports/bmw/3manuals

And here is a video of how to take your cluster apart
