Z3 staying in this summer; Insurance is too high
That's right folks you guessed it. I got too many tickets therefore my family's insurance is costing the price of my car this year. So I might not insure the car this year.

^ I went on a wild stalking rampage thinking you were selling your car due to insurance costs. Then realized it was a radar detector plug.
Side note, 50% of max Z owners ITT.

My insurance brokerage just picked up a new company that has impressed me in situations like this. PM me, if you'd like.

Nope. I still have a ticket on my record, but AMA out here lets you get one free. This includes 40$ a year rental car coverage. I dont think i could insure a 1986 aries, liability only, in ontario for under a grand a year. This is not an additional policy and i do not have any other insured vehicles, the multi policy discount is for property insurance on teh condo.

Thanks for posting that. I've never actually seen the premium breakdown, coverage by coverage, for an Alberta policy.
What is interesting to me is, (and I'm sorry if it isn't to you) if I take my Ontario policy and swap my injury premium ($673) with yours ($42), my annual cost is $955. All other coverage is within a few $$ of each other.

True. However I've never had rates as crazy as some of the youngens on here. I guess I've always been responsible with my driving. In my 20's, I had a 323, prelude, sentra se-r, and Acura tl.
Oh well - its worked for me!!

I'm not really sure what being responsible has to do with it. My insurance was 9000$ a year for my 328 when i was 18. I had two years driving experience, no tickets or other convictions. My only guilt was being young, male, living in toronto and driving a bmw.

Ivan - come on - $9k a year? My brother in law, who wrote off a 911 was on facility and it was $5k a year for a Saab.
I know a 22 year old with an m3 and a mustang and it's less then the $9k.
Something had to have been up.
All I'm saying is I've not had to experience that level of insurance and i really don't know what I did different the...

I was the primary driver on the vehicle, and had 1 year driving experience with a G2, no tickets. After i "gave" my e36 to my mom, my insurance (for me and her) went down to about 3K a year. A year or two later it went down to 2K. You have to remember this was 8 years ago as well, e36's are barely more expensive than civics of the same vintage now.
Did you live in the M postal code? If you live outside of the city (postal code starts with L) your insurance will be cheaper, sometime significantly.

That's gotta be it then... First car was a jetta under m postal code, but under my dad primary. The other cars were my own, me primary, but at that time we were all L postal code.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah my insurance company is giving me kind of a deal right now so it's probably what your brokerage would do.
Considering all the drinking and driving that I got away with. I am fortunate it's not the worse that it could be.
