Car wont start, Help

Hey guys, i have a 2002 330CI, which i just recently purchased, but it has a problem that even my mechanic has trouble catching. When it is a cold and damp morning, the car wont start. The starter is going without a problem, but the engine doesn't start. But once the sun comes out and the car warms up a bit, it starts without a problem. My mechanic (who specializes in German cars) said we need to catch it and scan it while its doing that, but by the time he usually gets to the shop, the car is already in the sun and starting. I was wondering if any of you have had this problem before and what it was.

Thanks in advanced.

could be many things...
maybe he should hang onto the car for a couple weeks and have a look at it.

fuel, spark related... could be the coolant temp switch(im serious).

I'm gonna go with either the engine speed sensor or a cam sensor.

But also possible that your fuel pump isn't turning on. See if you can hear it prime before cranking to rule it out.

the thing is, by the time my mechanic gets to the shop the suns out and the car starts (he had it for a good week), and ive heard the fuel pump last couple of times. Its so annoying cuz it happens at like 5-6 in the morning when i need to get to work. I'm planning to borrow my mechanics computer so that next time it happens i can run a diagnostic.
P.S. thanks
