Alright so if you've read Shawn's latest update, you getb a feel of what we've been through the last week. (Shawn in a bit of a rougher state than me). So a quick overview of how things went for me.
Tuesday, went down to Ogdensburg to pick up the oil pan I have been waiting for. Engine also went in the car tuesday night, along with the driveshaft and exhaust.
Wednesday, bolted all the engine stuff back on. Spark plugs, ignition coils, intake manifold, cold air, engine wire harness all connected, etc.
Thursday, winished the wiring, wired in the fan, cleaned up inside wiring. Installed the rad and fan. Filled the engine with oil and water. Also tapped into the back of the head (on the block off plate) to hook in the water temp sender. And then fired her up for the first time!
Friday, Seats bolted in, Jamie helped install harnesses, bolted a plate over spare tire well, secured battery, and took it for a test drive. All good! Then took off to Calabogie for the in-class session of the race school around 6pm. I was back around 11pm and got back to work. Had to secure the fenders/skirst, tack weld exhaust, secure gas tank filler neck, rotated tires and a bunch of other small things. Got the car loaded on the trailer around 2:30am, then helped Shawn untill around 5:30, had some breakfast and we left for the track around 6:15am.
In the end, the car made it and aran great all weekend! Here is a video of the last session of the day on sunday. We did a mock race start. For some reason I wasnt paying attention and missed the flag a little at the begining. First lap was on yellow to get everyone in line. At 3:05 I get dive-bombed and am forced to move over. And around 11:05 I get weird engine cut-out so I pull off.
Overall, great weekend! Good shake down of the car!
Thanks Brah! Yea trying to diagnose it. Found that with a small tug, the ground wire for the fuel pump came off, so i'm wondering if it was possible it was just a little loose. Gonna order a new pump too. And just ordered some new brake pads from Carl
