Bad water etching on windows - pics and my solution

I figured I'd put the solution I found for really bad water etching on the windows, in case somebody else is in the same situation.

Whatever the previous owner did just ruined the glass.

So after a couple hours and a lot of elbow grease, it's not perfect but incredibly better that what it was...

I tried all sorts of stuff I found on the internet, automotive glass cleaner, windex, scratch remover, clay I figured I'd go for broke...#0000 steel wool and turtle wax rubbing compound I already had in the garage...

so here's the before and after, I had half the back window done, so the difference between each side...
