Yeah but it's not a DME issue, it's a tuning issue.

He's local here in Ottawa, but I would talk to Barrie from Midnight Tuning (bmwconnect on the forums). He's the one who tuned my engine - and did an AWESOME job, and I think he can clear that code for you too.

not sure if you read my specs but I've got a bored M52 (to 86.5mm), 11.5:1 CP pistons, pulleys, ebay headers, 3.5" MAF & intake, S52 cams, and we were able to get 232WHP, 220WTQ

Yeah I saw, definitely intriguing. But this stroker is supposed to work with the stock DME. I think I shorted mine out, so either it is fried or I need a 413 red label. But I assumed there would be no software difference between the 2 other then EWS. If I cant get this figured out I will definitely give him a call.

I could get the car to run well above 1000 rpm on Sunday it just wouldn't idle (fixed that issue), but when installing the DME again I hit the positive terminal thats in engine bay and I think I may have cooked it. Need another DME to check.

Thanks for all the help and answers to the questions, greatly appreciated!

hmm.... I've shorted an ecu before (stupid car wash), and the car wouldn't run at all. Could be different though! Good luck!

Ahhhh the classic car wash.

At first the car wouldn't start, couldn't even get the check engine light to come on, not even during the stomp test. This makes me think its probably done.

Oh and open headers are LOUD.

Reset the fried one a few times, I guess it half came back to life.

Well wouldn't you know it, more problems.

So I have a 413 silver in my car, and I bought the chip for an after production date of 12/94, which works with the 413 silver, but now since its fried, I either have to get a new chip and red label, or get a new silver label and hope the chip is good.

Question is, if I get another silver label, I just have to get the EWS aligned correct?

I really don't think your DME is fried ... your car would not run. I've never heard of partially frying a computer ...

Start with the basics. have you taken care of all vac leaks? Any codes at all? Bad idle can come from a dead (or not hooked up) cam sensor, ICV, temp sensors, etc.

As far as I know. Hooked up the vacuum line and its running much better, but I didn't get to run it too long as I didn't get home until late and my neighbors definitely wont be keen on open headers at this time.

Hopefully pick up a diff tomorrow and maybe have this thing rolling by the early hours of Friday morning.

So if you don't have your exhaust hooked up yet, where's your O2 sensor?

Could be source of your bad idle?
