It's a well off photo, but the editing be better. I mean, the artificial DOF, or whatever you would call it is a bit harsh, and not focused. It looks too fake. The colour and lighting seem great though!

I like it! If the aperture was a bit narrower and the whole first picture
Clear I think it could be a better effect

^Interesting input, I'm still new to this and have lots of learning to do. That was actually my first shot with the newly acquired "fifty".

Here's a plain shot of a Robin. The DOF in this is extremely shallow. (Forget the bug flying through the frame) Just thought I would show you some good DOF.
Oh, and this isn't a fast lens, the aperture at 300mm, defaults to f5.

Craig, have any of those fire fighters ever asked you for one of those action shots? I'm sure the daily news, the fire fighters, emergency workers, or even their families may be very interested in a few of the action shots.

Maybe you could even have a few of the really good pictures mounted with a brief story of the emergency outlined benieth the picture. Maybe mounted on a nicely finished piece of wood that you router the sides on......(something cheap and easy to do yourself)
Just thoughts but I see potential in some of the action shots

Nah, My e-mail was hacked or something, I'm working on getting it back, or something lol. I would have no idea if someone tried to request an image.
I was with the Daily News photographer, she got some sweet shots too.
I never though about doing something like that. I could do something like a motivational type photo; only not the same, because those are overrated. Good idea Chris!
