I was shocked at how cheap E46's are getting a few months ago when I found out about a '02 325I that went for $3500. It was a black sedan with around 130000 km's on it. Bone stock with an extra set of winter rims/tires. I found out about it a couple of days after it was sold from someone I worked with who didn't take it because it didn't have a sunroof

I think that has less to do with the depreciation of the car, and more to do with:
a) the condition of the car (must've been horrible)
b) the seller of the vehicle didn't know the value of what he was selling

I think you're right with number 2 but I saw the car and it was clean.
Exterior and interior were clean. Leather had regular wear but not excessive.
I would be driving it right now if I had found out sooner.

I agree ...that was a lowball trade in price at best.

Take a look online at VRM, http://www.vmrcanada.com/value_menus.../01bm3-es.html

Its only an estimate but the range from 8-10 sounds about right.

As a dealer friend said the black book doesn't write cheques.

Not a chance any dealer would give $5500 for an 11yr old 325 sedan.

Thanks, my friend's been looking for that actually.

Not selling the car anymore. It will get an S54 in the near future.
