Mosport is now "Canadian Tire Motorsport Park"

So as some of you know Mosport has partnered with Canadian Tire.....Sweet!

It seemed like the track was going in the right direction already with all the much needed upgrades that started in the fall to accomodate bigger players and generally make it into a world-class track again with better facilities.
BUT I have a feeling this sponsorship was already in the works when the new owners signed on and they are announcing it now. Anyone know different?
Regardless, It was ill news to me at first to hear that our beloved "Mcmosport" breakfast sandwich was gonna be renamed the "Mcbigcorporationgreedymoneygrabbingdevilworshipper" (even if it IS a Canadian company) But the rebranded breakfast sandwich name kind of has a ring to it now.

All jokes aside I think it's a good partnership, if we have to change the name to make our home track better, then I'm okay with it. It will always be Mosport to us, just like Laguna Seca will never be Mazda Raceway.

As the new facility demands more money to stay afloat, hopefully the big races will bring in enough money to pay for it and not drive up the rental fees. Though that's already happened.....

The new name sucks..... they've just thrown away 50 years of tradition. Even most non-car fanatic folks know what and where Mosport is...
It's like the Honda Indy..... almost everyone still calls it the Molson Indy.....
