^that's a good alternative too - my only concern with those was depreciation. I'd rather just get one that's used, but there aren't many options for 2011..

also, v6 mustang? not sure about that, might as well have a v8 and be a man

on the other hand, I'm small and skinny - I'll just look plain stupid in one of those.

I was in the same boat as you few months back. Decided to go with E46 m3. Haven't looked back! I love the thing, except a bit pricey on gas but it's worth it.. WRX is also a great choice (STI is too pricey imo) The 135 is great also but approx 5-10k more than the other 2.

I would go sti/wrx if you can. awd, roomy for the size, not a terrible interior if you go 08+, they hold their value extremely well, and for about 1500-2000 in modding you can be putting down 350 hp/ 390 lb/ft. Only downside to these cars is being terrible on gas. I average about 12l/100

for a 3000 lb car with a 4 cyc it's pretty bad on gas, and is worse on the highway driving over 120 km/h is above 12L/100

Lots of bmw's get like 7-8. So 50% more is pretty bad, yeah. My s54 gets about 9.7/100 of regular driving (which never happens). My wife's escape, which is awd, gets about 10.4

I'm kind of set on the gti, but it all comes down to the test drives.

As for the Ms3 - i personally hate the styling and the interior is decent; I find mazda's have nicer interiors than most japanese cars in general. It's worht a test drive I guess..

Might also try out one of those FRS/BRZ things when they come out - they're pretty ugly but look like fun to drive.

Edit: someone mentioned the GLI as well - those are made in mexico... 'nuff said
It only has premium package, Proper manual gearbox ( i thought it would bother me in traffic, but Now I completely love it, didnt drive manuals for quite some time) but thats all you really need, I got it off kijiji with 18.000 as a lease takeover, i pay 435$ tax in and i think its a steal. I did gave the guy 2gs back as he put 8000 down. but i mean its brand new, 18.000 kms on it, in december The buy out on it is 22.000 which I dont find very expensive. I love the car, I also test drove 2012 5.0 mustang gt, it is also a very nice car, But i found that interrior bothering me a bit, its not bad! But I still prefer German quality interiorwise, you can get it below 30 gs from US. But I still picked Bimmer. Its a blast lil car, even tho it looks small inside is much roomier than 3 series. That is if you dont need to drive adults in the back. But I personally had few trips in my friends 128i in the back for couple of hrs and i was completely fine with it.

^wow that's an amazing deal. You would of basically paid ~$32,000 when its all said and done then for that car. If I can find something like that, I would def. go for it..
