Miniature air filter

So, I recently purchased a carbon intake (Gruppe M replica) from EuroSport Tuning and the kit came with this miniature cylindrical air filter and I'm not sure what it's for. I think it might be for the CCV to vent gases out instead of back into the intake but I thought the CCV was supposed to be a closed system?

Here's a pic of what it looks like (not the same kit but the mini intake is identical):

Nope. I bought it yesterday and I wanted to go in today and ask but I'm in school until 8pm so I won't have any time.

Plus I thought you guys will probably know more anyways.

that little filter isnt for the BMW .. its a breahter and it usually goes on the 4cyl engines like a Honda as a breather.
