My best friend had his done at BMW Town & Country, all covered.
Keep in mind that the car MUST be in ALL STOCK form.
Also there is no dead like for Canadians, you know how in US the deadline is in like a week, well we here dont have a deadline. Simply speaking you can take your car for repairs whenever they happen.

I'm in the process of getting mine fixed but they're talking about partial costs and some other crap! Does anyone here that already got this done have receipts or any sort of advice for me?

I just come back from an Independent Mech. and he told me there is subframe damage. I even looked at it myself, the arm of the subframe went thru the floor I guess I need to take a trip to the dealer

Id be interested to get stats on what e46's see problems...
For example:
Number of 2 drs vs sedans
Number of stick vs auto
I ask because eventhough they may have had a small defect to start with it is likely "abuse" or spirited driving which brings it out. Therefore I would guess at the least they are mainly seeing this in manuals and 2 drs.

So I just got word from Parkview BMW. They told me BMW Canada will not do the repairs because it is too old and has high mileage. I don't see how that's my fault. I should not be paying for this if its their bad design.
Got a 328i 2000 @ 267k km.
I should speak to BMW canada to complain.

Where do they set the bar to say it's too old?
There must be a settlement in court for this, does anyone have a copy?

I have no clue.
I tried talking to him and he keeps rushing me off the phone. I don't think there is a Canadian settlement for this. It was a silent recall, meaning BMW canada will use discretion to fix owner's car.
What I don't get is, it shouldn't be matter how old a car is. It was their fault and we should not be the person to pay for it.
I will shout at BMW canada next week. I don't want to do it at my work.
BMW makes me...

I know this is a touchy issue but at almost 300k on a 12 year old car your not doing to bad. In the territiory expensive repairs are to be expected. The e36s had sub frame issues as well although I don't think they ever had the recall. A buddy of mine on this forum bought to e36s and was lucky enough to have the subrafe tear on both.

What puzzles me is that this seem to be a prolonged issue since e36. I wonder why they did not reinforce the subframe from factory.
I briefly had a look at my mechanic and it appears the subframe is not bolted to the frame of the car but to the floor of the car, what gives?

I know in the the united states they had covered the cost for anyone with subframe issues. I think they stopped that in late 2009. I do believe that no matter your miles or year this should not happen. It is defiantly a defect.

From what I've read. There is no cutoff date for Canadians
Try more than one dealer

So I just finished with 2 dealers.
Parkview and Town & country.
T & C say BMW is willing to put 50% of the cost of the repairs, which is $2,600.
The rest is out of my pocket. To me thats too much
