mounting race seats

So far I see two options. Are there any others ?

1) Corbeau mounts
2) VAC aluminum mounts

Has anyone used the Corbeau mounts? Thoughts ? From what I can tell they look high, and I would think getting the double locking option would be required.

I'm also considering carving up a stock set of rails to fit? Thoughts ?

In Montreal too, so no duty on shipping, etc. Plus I think you have to use your stock rails anyways. Its just the adapter to attach the seat to the rails that you need.

Im using omp rails, had to skim a quarter inch off the rail closest to the center consol on both side

I have the corbeau mounts. They are okay without the double lock, quite sturdy but I would always recommend the double lock for more safety. They are only 2" tall, so with a race seat (mine are momo) you will probably need some form of seat riser. I used thick 2" square stock to raise mine.

If you go to their website you can find a complete listing of seat rails for specific vehicle. I found the part number for E30s and then ordered through amazon.com

Im on the highest setting for the omp rails, mounted directly to the floor, works for me...im 5'11"...so give or take your height and how you prefer to drive that square bar is a great idea

bimmerworld has these for 137 with the double lock.There is a comment on there that a 5'11 guy can't get in the car with his helmet. Does this seem reasonable ? Wouldn't that depend on how high he mounted the seat assuming side mount brackets ?
