The shop I was at today used Gulf oils exclusively, they were a a Audi/VW/Porsche euro garage, not a lot of people seem to use it on the forums though, not as popular as Mobil 1 or Castrol blends.
Leave it alone, if there are no noises, just leave it, I thought my guides were going since it was ticking, I literally replaced EVERYTHING in the engine:
- vanos transmissions
- timing chain/guides/tensioner
- all the gaskets
- oil pump bolt
and it still ticked like a bitch, and the guides weren't even that bad and I've had the car since 04/05, oil change was always done on time, always follow the spec according to the temperature, at the end I just went to standard auto and bought a nice '01 engine with 100k km on the odo for $2k and it has been fine ever since.
Do the normal maintenance, but nothing more, nothing less.
