Tail light bulbs?

Ok, I'm reading this and call me what you will but I can't tell which one is supposed to be the P21/4W? The top left brake light is out and so is the bottom right brake light (although the warning being displayed only shows the left).

Looks like it would be either #4 or #5 based on the link you provided. The best way to check is engage the brake (have someone sit in the car, or put a heavy object on it) and check out the rear yourself and see which bulb is out. Then just replace it.

Yeah, but I'm not sure which one of the bulbs in the assembly is for the P21/4W bulb, assuming there's only one per side. Picture doesn't really show that clearly.

Ok, looks like the P21/4W is the dual filament bulb so that should be the bottom brake light (brighter when braking)?

Wait, I think the dual filament was for pre-face light cars; mine's an '03.

Sorry, i don't think i'm understanding you. Check which brake light is not working from outside the car, and then take that bulb out. Remember where it is on the outside, and take it out from the inside. I'm not sure what else you need to know.

From the realoem link it looks like you have selected a prefacelifted tail.

I have a facelifted '03 and use the same buld in all four spots.

Yeah, P21W all around.

From my VIN it's a Feb. '03 and it's the newer style, not sure why realoem.com is showing that unless they have the same data for both.

I'm pretty sure I saw a dual filament in the right side, so somebody must've replaced that with the wrong one by mistake.

Yup, mine is a feb 03 as well.
And yes, when i use my vin on realoem, I get the same pic that you do. Definitely a prefacelifted tail.

FYI, no matter what year I choose at bmwfans.info's catalogue or realoem.com's catalogue, they only have the pre-facelift assembly with the three bulbs.
